What are facebook ads?

How to start with facebook ads?

Firstly, to start using facebook ads, you need a facebook account, it can be your private or business account, if you don’t have an account yet, you can go to the official page and create one. Once you have an account, you are ready to start using ads. Login with your account on ads manager portal, here it is: ADS MANAGER. You will see 4 tabs, Account overview, Campaigns, Ad Sets and Ads. These tabs are like folders, the main one is Campaigns, inside it are Ad Sets, and inside it are Ads. Campaign determines your objective, so if you want to generate leads, this is set on a campaign level. Ad Sets determine your targeting and a budget, and ads are simply different variations of your ads.


How to set up an objective?

This step is very important, make sure you choose the right objective to maximize your Return Of Investment (ROI). If you have an e-commerce store, you first want to gather data, so the best course of action is to choose an objective to reach the highest number of people. Reach and Impressions are objectives that usually are the best option to gather information about the audience that you want to target. Once you have enough data, it is smart to create a new campaign with the objective that you want to reach.

Who to target and what should be my budget?

To target the right audience, you need data, without it, you might lose money instead of growing your business. Some things are easier to target than the others, for example if you are selling beauty products for the women, it is kind of obvious to target women, however, with facebook ads you can target your audience way more specific, you can target interests, age, location and much, much, more, that is why, first step of gathering data is so important and can be crucial in succeeding or failing your campaign. When it comes to the budget it will depend how big your business is, and how much are you willing to invest, but it is not a smart idea to invest lots of money in untested ads. Start small, with a few different variations of your ads, see which one performs the best and slowly increase the budget of these ads. Don’t go crazy increasing the budget of specific ads, double it and if it is still performing good, double it again, and again, until you are happy with spendings and money this campaign is making you.


Different ads variations?

Test out different ads variations, however, be smart about it, create few different variations where everything is different, different text, image, video etc. Once you have your best performing facebook ad, don’t stop here, now make another variation of this ad, change one thing, for example text, see which one is doing the best, then create another variations changing other thing, until you have an ad that is performing really well.


Is my job done? Are ads going to run by themself forever making profit? 

No, ad has its expiration date, it might make you lots of money, but it won’t be the case forever, that’s why you need to keep thinking of the new ads, and creating great ads all the time, simply don’t put eggs into one basket. Once you notice that ad is doing worse shut it down, and by this time, you should have another ad that is tested, and will bring you great results.
